Generally you don't have to replace the shocks after a minor accident These
bumper shocks are like a suspension shock in which they has a fluid filled
reservoir that is pressurized when the shock is compressed Fluid fills the
pressurized chamber, putting the gas under even more pressure, this is fine
until the shock compresses and the piston(the part that bolts to the bumper)
pierces the rear of the pressurized chamber releasing all the pressurized
fluid and gas. I have seen that if the shocks return to their normal position
and cannot be compressed by pushing on the bumper or kicking it then they are
fine. This is mandated by the Us insurance companies and is incorporated with
the 5 or 2.5 mile per hour no damage crash test.
