Having it in the path of a "wind" of any kind would be nice, even
just a mild one; I'm thinking that behind the grille on the
passenger side or behind the grillework in the front bumper would
be decent places, not too close to the block, exhaust, or radiator.

Yeah, I'm quite realistic about it: I realize I won't end up with
much (if any) more flow than using a K&N panel filter if I make
custom ductwork with a big cone on the end. In fact, the power
increase will probably be mostly a placebo, and just sound faster.
