Re: 1986 Audi 4000 CS Quattro For Sale

Bill,
You've been very upfront in your cars assesment, and having had the car
for 2 years I probaby won't be telling you too much you don't already
know/fear ;^).
What you have is a nice, probably, daily driver that needs a "little"
more work to be over the maintenance hump for the next year+. Of course
getting to that point is maddening and fiscaly draining for most.
Unfortunately, what you have to the rest of the world is probaby a
running parts car. You probaby know Ned Bennett in Hyannis, he can give
you a real word value. I woud say it is closer to your original
misprint that $1,000 with another $1,000 whack waiting in the wings.
(indeed with your parts list you could probably get more money back by
parting it out individually)
For comparison, in todays world, $3,000, or less, will get you a 1986/87
5000TQ with much less than 200K miles, sport interior, with all of your
stated repairs done + more and needing virtually no current work, with a
much larger performance envelope and luxury appointments to boot.
Good luck, I suspect you will see some other POVs soon.
Mike
