I suspect the cold start valve is about the only thing that's working
properly - that's what it's running on, before it stalls.
It's probably stalling because of low pressure in the fuel system.
Try running a jumper lead from the battery positive to the output
socket of the fuel pump relay, effectively running the pump manually for
half a minute or so. Then try and start. If it leaps into action
without missing a beat - that's your problem.
