RE: Coolant loss, 93 100s

As Avi said, it is no biggy at the moment. But in the
mean time you can cheap that thin overflow hose from the
top of the overflow tank to the radiator. My car also
checked fine in the pressure test, but it had a small
leak at the hose ends. Replacing with equal diameter
Goodyear fuel line seems to be holding. I don't know if
the 93 100s has the same afterrun water pump as on the
turbocharged 200, but if it does then have a look at it.
My one showed some corrosion, seemed to be spilling a
bit of coolant and then one day it came flying off when
the mechanic touched it. They're plastic and get eaten up
by the coolant. (Actually, I still want to dismantle the
pump's wreck and see if a replacement can be made.
Whatever happened to finding a replacement for these
expensive pumps?)

Yesterday I removed my overflow tank to hunt down a major
leak I've been having. Turned out the outlet pipe on the
underside had been cracked (probably when I had that
mini-prang a couple of months back). I closed it up by
using my old soldering iron and using some nylon string and
an old toothbrush as extra solder. :) Worked well. But I
doubt you have a leak like this, mine was gushing water
at an alarming rate. I mean, it takes a minute at the
garage to fill it up and you can hear the water dumping into
the radiator when filling the overflow tank. :) I'm still
not sure what caused the crack. The plastic in that area
doesn't look too good anymore from the heat. :)

Park the car on a clean surface and maybe spread some sand
under it. Leave it there for a while and check for leaks.
Maybe some of it is just getting a bit lost in the heater
core. But it is too small an amount to be worrying about
right now.
