Weird Accel Lag..5KCSTQ

Can't figure this out:

Every bow and then I'll be moving along accelerating at the usual swift
pace -- and all of a sudden I hit 3rd gear and I get a strange hesitation
that lasts a second or 2.

It's been happening on and off in the higher gears -- like when I'm in 5th
on the highway moving along at a lower RPM and I have to hit the gas fast
to speed up and pass someone..  Turbo works fine and puts out at least 1.3
BAR, but there is a lag.

I think it may be the fuel pump.  I notice that when I turn on the
defroster or anything electric it affects the buzzing noise of the fuel
pump.  It's going, going, gone -- isn't it?
