99 A6q brake squeek

My 99 A6q (3k mi) just started emmitting a slight brake sqeek between
about 5 MPH and stopped.  It only occurs when my foot is light on the
pedal and will not occur if you stop hard or above 5 MPH or so.  It's
annoying because it's right in that 'heavy traffic brake pressure' area
so in creeping traffic I squeek up a storm.  Any ideas as to what causes
this and how I can fix it?  Will it work its way out or should I bring
it in for a new pad, etc?
