re: The smell of burning oil...



Sean,
I started a "burning oil odor" thread a few weeks ago regarding my '91
200q. In my case, the smell was tranny oil that was leaking from the
rightside final drive (front) oil seal--then splattering/smoldering on the
exhaust pipes. The onset of the odor was pretty sudden.  Since then I've
replaced seal. Feedback on this indicated the cause/effect applies to later
models as well. Look for oily mess near either of the inner (front) CV
joints.
