Hydraulic hose restoration...

Today, I dropped off all four of the hydraulic hoses from my mother's '87 5k
at a shop to be rebuilt.  I was quoted $165 for all four, which seemed pretty
reasonable to me and they were done less than four hours later so I could pick
them up on my way home from work.

Needless to say, the high-pressure hose was the most expensive of the four and
the guy who did the work on it said that it was important to re-use the
restrictor/damper built into the hose and getting it positioned properly is
difficult.  He said some shops will leave it out and charge less but that
it'll affect the steering feel and amount of assist and he didn't think this
was such a good idea...

Anyway, I have no idea how much these hoses would have been from the dealer
but they come with a 12-month guarantee and they were available now instead of
next week ... anyway, we'll see how well this works out.
