Re: Ronin
All the talk of Ronin: My jaw dropped in the theatre when the guy said "we'll need
an Audi S8..." and stayed there through the chase scenes. Shame how the car ended
up, though. The film proved to me that "cinema is a visual medium" as opposed to
verbal- nothing happened, dialogue was sparse, but just look at the *pictures*!
As I said, walking out to my nice, forbidding-looking dark-colored (Nautical Blue)
type 44 after the film, "If you want to look like a fraternity boy, get a BMW. If
you want to look like a soccer mom, get an SUV. If you want to look like an
international spy/assassin on an unlimited budget... (cue deep rumble of nearly
unmuffled MC engine) there is no substitute. "
And you don't even want to know about the fancy driving which happened when we met
a 450SEL facing off at the stoplight on the onramp (Ingolstadt's honor was
upheld...) or the M5 we caught once homebound on I-10. Sometimes it seems life
does imitate art. Sorry for the BW.
