I must reply to this post.  We're not talking about some bronze or babbit bush
here.  
I don't know what you meant by "bearings are a dime a dozen" and "just get a
local bearing manufacturer to make them up".  IMHO companies and countrys have
spent billions of dollars on research, metalurgy, and sophisticated machine
tool technology to attempt to produce a top quality bearing.  They are
essential for top military hardware and space and rocket technology.  IMHO
only a few companies and countrys can produce these top quality bearings.
Some of these are in your Audi.  I wouldn't let you put Asian or East European
bearings in anything I own if you paid the parts and labor.  BTDT TOO many
times.  High speed high pressure bearing failure is NOT pretty.  Usually for
what's involved to R+R the bearing anyway I don't want to save $.67 or
whatever the "SAVINGS" is.
