I had the same experience. I too was one of the "uninitiated" that
would go to Kmart and get the orange F##m filters, rated #1 by consumer
reports and all that. And I also had about a second of lifter rattle
every time I started the car in the mornings - even when I put in new
lifters. After trying the Mann/Mahle oem filters, there is no going
back. There is virtually no lifter noise upon startup. Unless it's
time for an oil change - you get to keep that feature. you can actually
get these filters for $3 each, if you are willing to buy a dozen ;)
