S6 Re: The Next A6

I just wanted to write and clarify what we know of the A6.

The new A6 4.2 has the larger flared fenders and some other subtle body
changes. Whether this is standard for the whole A6 range remains to be seen.
BMW found it more economically feasible to go all flared on the Z3 and it is
possible Audi may do the same with theA6.

As for America, we were informed at the Detroit Auto Show that we will get
an A6 4.2 in addition to a 2.7T w/ 6-speed. I want to go home and verify
with my notes from Detroit to make sure, but the interview was with the head
of product planning for North America, so the source is solid. I'll get back
to the list on that one.

As for the S6, neither will be engine choices in the S6. At least not
directly. Rumors (I say again RUMORS) suggest that the S6 will be a
turbocharged (possibly twin turbo like the 2.7T) 4.2 with 5V technology.
There has been no confirmation for the S6 to be sold stateside, but with the
M5 being available here and the A6 now being Audi's top seller in the US, I
wouldn't rule it out.
