Re: Why FWD?
<<If you own a Quattro and own a FWD Audi, then please only post your
Quattro stuff here.>>
Well, at least you stated your opinion out front, instead of hiding behind a
fake ID. Thanks for that anyway. Gives me a higer opinion of you and your
comments than some other "gripe" email that has hit the board.
It may not have occured to you that most of the major component systems are
the same in both cars. The engines are the same in the 5k/5kq/4kq. The
transmission is the same, except for an opening for the extra drive shaft in
the quats.
The typical headaches (door handles, a/c system, electrical gremlins, etc.)
have far too much overlap.
Then again, many of us own both types, so we have both types of trouble. I
have three quats (2 5k and a 4k), and my son has a 5ks that I try to help him
maintain. Since this list has some of the best diagnostic folk anywhere, do
you really think I'm going to take my 5ks questions elsewhere? Time for a
reality check here -->> Ain't no way this Bucksnort dude is asking the
questions anywhere else. Unless, of course, you're aware of a site/forum that
has more talented/experienced folk who are FWD only. In which case I'd
probably desert this one completely because I've never had a problem with a
quattro-specific part......
<<Audi should do what Subaru did and eliminate FWD off the books.>>
From this comment I'd wager you've never driven a Subaru AWD. If they'd let
us have the rally version over here, then that would be OK, but the stock cars
are really poor handling/feeling when compared to a reasonably maintained 5KQ
or 100/200Q. And the more I think about it, I'd also take my 4KQ over the two
AWD Subies I've driven. Hands down.
<<If you don't believe this is a Quattro group...check the email address
above....>>
I did, and I also checked to see who was the current listmeister. Um, your
name wasn't there, unfortunately..... Did I miss something? :-)
Then, too, keep in mind that your computer should have a functional "delete"
key which can be used for dumping non-quat messages into the cyber-ether.
(It's usually marked "Delete" or "Del", you might want to check your
keyboard.)
That's the response from Bucksnort.
Later.
