Okay, seems we've started FAR too many flame/hate wars here. I apologize
for my part in the flame war.  Back to the cars:

Had a buddy who knows VW's take a look at the quattro today. (I'm 18hrs
away) Hopefully you recall the steering is done like dinner.  Asked him to
check the tie-rods and ball joints out.

His reply (in short) was:

>Looks to me like the PU-joint.  Had this go on one of my VW's, same
>>sounds...packed it with grease and it's been fine since.


PU-joint?

Anyone care to comment?  Ideas?
