do this in a well ventillated area and extinguish all open flames/sparks.
fold down the rear seats.
there are half dozen or so holes in the carpet near the leading edge (on
the seatbacks) that allow access to phillips head screws.
unscrew the rear hatch area carper cover and fold the carpet back.
remove the round tank cover and commence work.
thank the audi gods that you are doing this job on a wagon rather than a
sedan.
