85 4kq - Clutch Question

Please Help:

I have a 1985 4000S Quattro, 97k miles, great shape in/out

Recently it has been getting harder and harder to shift gears.	Most
especially when the car is hot and has been running for quite awhile. The
brake fluid is not low and I am told that the clutch master / slave draws
from the brake reservior. If you pump the clutch petal the shifting seems
to get a little easier, but not that much. The hotter the car is the worse
the problem is.

Looking at the clutch petal - the little rubber boot is torn and wet. My
mechanic says that this is probably not the problem. He says that the
master does not appear to be leaking either. His prognosis is that the
clutch is bad and needs to be replaced.

Is he right? The clutch grips great. It doesn't slip, jerk, or pull. It
engaged fine up until last week. And the car only has 97k on it!
Should I replace the master/slave anyway?

If it is the clutch - please write me with offers if anyone wants the car
for parts, etc. I can't afford the project.

Comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
