Re: Cost of cars

Starter, '93 Ford Probe-$975.00, according to one of my new customers
who just offed his. Maybe Audi prices aren't so bad after all. We've had
the cheap starter discussion before, a $29 starter is just that, a $29
starter. Barely covers paying Julio to spray paint it and slap a rebuilt
label on it. It is more properly called a washed and painted starter.
One gets what one pays for. BTW, as a shop, we pay less than 6 bucks
apiece for German rear wheel cylinders for an Audi or late VWs, a couple
bucks less for very good Brazilian ones, and 15 bucks for name brand
relined brake shoes. Those Prices quoted for the GM stuff are most
likely for what most quality shops wouldn't even consider putting in a
customer's car.
