Help w/autocheck display on '91 200Q
I started the car today, and noticed right away that the square autocheck
screen on the dash was dark and blank. I rapped lightly on the plastic a
few times and turned the key on and off. Nothing. Once, the red oil
pressure warning icon flashed. When I rapped on the plastic, it
disappeared. The radio frequency doesn't display either.
Question: Did a bulb burn out? Do I need to pull the instrument cluster
and plan on soldering?? Will Stabilant 22 do the trick? If it is a bulb
in need of replacement, I assume the steering wheel has to come off?
Other than the occasional annoyance of the brake pad warning icon coming
on, the autocheck display hasn't been a problem on this car. But, of
course, counting on continued reliability of something like this is wishful
thinking. (If 3 listers experience a problem on a given model, eventually
everybody will.) I did plug in the engine check light bulb the other day,
per Scott Mockrey's instructions. There was no problem with the
installation, and the engine check light works fine. But perhaps that was
enough to prompt other malfunctions.
Any advice/words of wisdom is much appreciated.
