I knew a guy who did this to a Nissan Hardbody, and actually punched holes in 
the fender, the part that you see, with the Vice Grips he was using.

They tore the holes much like when you punch a hole in a juice can with the 
sharp end of a bottle opener.

Nothing he couldn't fix with some bondo and spray paint.  <ack!>
