Actually, I had the problem in my 4kq, and then I tried a
product that my friend had started selling called BiTron.
Sounded like snake oil, but he said I didn't have to pay
him unless I saw a noticeable improvement, and that I did.
It's an oil additive, but it's made out of "charged"
petroleum particles, so it basically works by sticking to
the friction surfaces better than the rest of the oil.
Now the valve noise almost completely silences within a
minute or so of starting the car. If I end up going to a
synthetic blend and make sure I have a filter with an
anti-drainback valve, it should stay nice and quiet. At
least, it will be quiet once I replace the muffler(s),
and I thanks to the list, I won't waste my time on OEM
setups when a Stebro stainless steel one is so cheap!
