Very cool news RE my hit and run on the UrQ

hey all, i dontk now how many of you remember the time that my UrQ was
hit and run while it was parked across the street from my work, about 2
weeks after i got it back from 2bennett.

Anyway, its the craziest thing. The cops never found the guy or even
followed up on it past the day after the accident as far as i know.
Anyway, so on wednesday i was driving up woodside road (only pertinent
for people from the bay area), and i noticed this grey camaro in one of
the left turn lanes. I thought to myself "hmm, interesting". Then i
noticed the license plate: 3TZZ360, one digit off from the 3BZZ360 that
we gave the CHP on December 22nd. I screamed out many explitives in the
excitement, quickly wrote down the license plate number and decided i had
to pull a U-turn.

Unfortunately, the next place i could turn was about a quarter mile up
the road and had a signal. Argh...so i drove up there, and by this time,
i was sure that the camaro was gone. Well, of course i just missed the
left arrow so i had to sit at the light for what seemed like 5 hours when
it finally changed. I love quattro, i just put it in first, turned the
wheel and floored it. Man that thing is cool when it kicks the tail out
when the boost comes on. anyway, so i drive back down woodside and take
a right on to the street that i thought they might have turned on. I
drive down there for about 3 blocks and am just about to give up when i
see it. The car is sitting in the driveway of one of the houses there.
I almost pissed in my pants when i saw that. I wrote down the address
and took a better look at the car. Not only was there corresponding
damage on the right front of the car (alot more than is on my car, thats
for sure), there is a bunch of red paint transferred onto the car as well.

So i called the CHP. Well, they assigned possibly the stupidest officer
ever to the case and she went out to the house the next morning. I asked
her to call me as soon as she found the car, but she didnt. I called her
at 1 in the afternoon and this is the conversation:

Me: Hi, were you able to find the car?
Her: Yeah, i found the car and talked with the registered owner.
Me: And?
Her: Yeah, i talked with him and his girlfriend and neither of them
matched the description of the person driving it at the time, and they
said they werent driving.
Me: Umm...okaaayyy...what about the damage?
Her: Yeah, i saw that.
Me: And the red paint?
Her: Yeah, i saw that too, it was red, but i cant prove that it is yours.
Me: Uhhhhhhhhh.....okaaayyyy
Her: yeah, so thats all i can do, i will file the supplementary to the
original report and you can pick it up next week if you want to try a
civil suit.

I hung up the phone, complete disgusted with the CHP and police in
general. Apparently my father, a lawyer, talked to her a little prior to
that and she said that she would NOT take a paint sample from the car
because neither of the people she talked to seemed to be the driver of
the car on december 22, so its not a criminal matter. My father went ape
sh@t about that, and faxed and called her supervisor. The next day they
told him that the lieutenant reviewed the case and decided that it
warranted further investigation....DUHHHHHHH.

Anyway, so now they are actually looking into it, taking pictures, paint
samples and everything.

Suddenly the estimate on my car will go from 2300 to about 8000 or so,
since i will want everything replaced of course....

God, if you want something done, you just have to do it yourself.

so now my car will be fixed and i wont have to pay for it. I just hope
he has insurance, but if he doesnt, they own something like 5 cars and
they are all relatively new and modified, so im sure they arent broke.

just wanted to share the good news with all of ya....

later...
