steering damper leak
A short while ago I mentioned that my tranny oil seal(s) leakage had caused
oil to be deposited all over the tranny case and some components _above_
it, specifically the steering rack bellows and steering damper (both of
these being on the passenger side).
Well, the tranny's not leaking any longer, and the steering rack is not
leaking (knock on zebrano), but lo and behold, it's obvious _now_ that oil
accumulating on the bellows and the damper appears to be a persistent
dribble directly from the...steering damper.
Just in passing: although I haven't yet noted the steering "problem"
mentioned by a couple of '91 200q owners (i.e., "lack of assist" when
turning wheel to full right lock during idling), might it be symptomatic of
a defective steering damper?
