I think you misunderstood. I also refer to the plastic ring that is between
the upper spring retainer and the strut plate as a "strut bearing", because
you're right - it _is_ a bearing. However, I noticed in the past that some
people also tend to call the rubber mount (the rubber-metal part that holds
the strut piston to the body - the one you move to adjust camber) a
"bearing", which I found confusing. We have the strut bearing (which
consists of two plates and a plastic ring, which moves as the wheel turns)
and the strut mount (which is a non-moving metal-rubber element).
