speedometer gremlin in 87 5kcst

Hello again!
I've got a temperamental speedometer in the Audi- what else
is new? This one acts like none I've heard of. It jumps 10
mph or so for a second at cruising speed. This has gone on
for a few days. But last night, I noticed that it leaps off
the peg at a standstill (stoplight wait) and, get this,
*counts miles* while the car is stationary. You can see the
odo advance in sync with the false speed reading. This
occurs for split-seconds, and I realize that at 192k, no one
figures it for low mileage, but haven't I got enough to
think about without it adding false mileage itself? any
BTDT?
Probably unrelated, but also disconcerting: The low-end
Blaupunkt which has been in the 5k for 3 years has started,
sporadically, switching on by itself. I wondered who was
playing the Clash and why it sounded so muffled yesterday-
then it dawned on me. This is the third or fourth time I've
caught this happening out on the driveway.
Both of these sound just surreal now that I've described the
problems. I'm *very* curious if this has happened elsewhere.
Time to call the exorcist??
