New NGK Sparkle Plug #
Friends, I just installed (with benefit of anti-sieze) new plugs in the
1990 200. Gee, now I know what Bosch plugs look like after being
run for 108,000 miles! Gap was about .44 all around (or a bit more)
when spec is .28-35. Also, the center electrode was triangular - one
flat for each electrode. I think I got all the good out of them! Now I'll
see if it starts easier tomorrow AM for the run to the tranny shop.
A data point: the NGK BP6ET plug has a new stock number, namely
1263. The NGK parts book (and the individual plug boxes) still list
the BP6ET number at this time, but may not for too much longer.
Last time I ran NGK's was in my 1971 240Z - and they wre good for
10K miles in that one, with an automatic miss when you drove
10,100 miles without changing them. Cars are a LOT easier on
plugs than they used to be!
