83 Ur-q rear shocks removal. Help

Hello all

I'm struggling with the rear parcel shelf on the 83 urq.  I can't
figure out how it comes off.  Does it have to be loosened from the trunk?  I
have this 1" panel in the trunk under the parcel shelf with sub-woofers and
amplifiers etc. hanging from it, and I've resisted removing it for obvious
reasons,  it
actually appears to be glued in.  Any help with removing the rear parcel
shelf would be appreciated.
The reason I'm doing this is to allow me to drop the shock towers in order
to inspect the top mounts which appear to be worn out.
BTW, once I loosen the shock towers at the top, do I have enough space to
remove/inspect/replace the top mounts or do I have to disconnect the drive
shafts and the whole bit?
