... actually they will send notice to everyone they know to own an affected
car.  Unfortunately, there are likely to be a lot of people who have bought
their cars used and have not registered their ownership with AoA.  If there
is anyone who happens to own a car that they did not buy from a dealer which
might be affected it is always best to contact a local dealership or AoA
directly.  

Now that you're thinking about it now might not be a bad time to pick up one
of the postage paid postcards that the dealers have which allow you to give
the VIN and contact info to AoA so that they can notify you of any future
recalls.  I just remembered that I have not done this for the V8 yet ...
