That car looked very nice, but beneath that colorsanded and buffed skin
it
had a couple 'things'. No offense intended to Duane or the current
owner,
just my observations.
I may have missed it, but how much was it sold to the current owner for?

(not that it's any of my busines)
----------------------------------------
Well, the car is currently in the PNW region. Seattle to be exact.
Well, actually Woodinville or something which is about an hour north.
But if anyone is interested, it is now owned by Pete Kunzler in that
area.
I dont know the actual selling price but 10 or 11K rings a bell.
Dont quote me on that. Car is quite beautiful and looks best screaming
on the back straight of a track at 100mph. (Bremerton is where I saw
it) Car is clean and fast. Core support is pretty hacked to make
room for IC. Most if it is custom with only part of the original Core
support exixting. I thing I heard this was the Bennets first Turbo
conversion. It doesn't look bad by any means and I think it is cool
with all the custom Aluminum but for some that may detract from it.
The motor was strong but no where near the 230hp they claimed in the
EC article. We suspect the small exhaust is choking it off. It wasn't
even hitting 1.8 bar last I heard when my friend drove it. And that
was after a change to a k24 turbo. (I better explain) Seems there was
a loose bolt "front of turbo shaft ma;ybe" that got into intake
tract!!) Well, it went throught the impeller and into motor.) OOPS!
Especially at 5,000 RPM or whatever it was when it let loose I hear.
Anyhow, time to improve. k24 went in and new head went on. Pulls VERY
strong now but still no 2.0 plus bar which is needed for 230+ claimed
hp. I'd put hp at like 190 - 200 maybe. I dont know how many bar that
chip is supposed to give it but I know my Friends 5ktq with an honest
1.8bar was faster.
Anyhow, car is running well now, is still beatiful, and hopefully I
will see it again at the next track event.
Oh, and of course all HP evaluations are my OPINION and completely
subjective but backed my more than a couple NW list members that have
ridden/driven it.
If anyone cares, I think they may have lowered the spring rates a
bit as it was pretty rough on these PNW roads with 17" wheels covered
with Rubberbands. And it is still fast, where my 4kq was hitting
95-100mph and a MC 4kq with no IC and no chip was hitting 105+ I think
the Black 4ktq was hitting like 110. And promptly lighting up the Metal
masters behind the G60's with a lovely display of sparks :-) They still
worked fine but it was interesting to watch from the sidelines. If it
were me, I would change to better pads, put on a 3" exhaust and down
pipe to help out that k24. Bump up boost to 2.0 bar and have some fun.
:-)
Ok, I'm babbling. Its one of the few Kick Ass Audi's in the
region. Although we do have all Neds Beasts and Alex Nekus's cool
rides.
