I agree about the indirect manual racks- four turns lock-to-lock on my
previous unassisted Audi 80. Heavy to park, too- parallel-parking in a
tight spot was the best excercise there was.
I'm not over-fond about my 90's power assist either, though. No road feel
whatsoever, though I've been informed that there are worse Audis in this
respect.
The new Golf IV has excellent power-assisted steering. Light when it should
be, and heavy enough to feel what you're doing otherwise.
