I don't agree. My 5kCSQ's oil pan has several dents, as have most MC
motors I've seen... as does the subframe...
As for the uninformed person that suggested that she must drive like an
idiot, I have a speed bump for him to try. Try going over it slowly
and you WILL hit the oil pan in an A4 1.8T (stock suspension).
Start 15 feet away from a stop, floor it and you get over no problem.
Finally, for a car that is marketed for snowy/icy conditions,
(AoA sponsored event at Stevens Pass Ski Area last Saturday
for example, driving new A4/A6/A8s thru and in icy, bumpy conditions)
hitting the oil pan on some ice isn't unexpected.
While Audi may be able to claim that it isn't a defect, it IS
a poor design decision to use cast Al for such a vulnerable
part without providing any protection.
