re re: Jamex Strut Brace Group Purchase

A list member asked earlier today (digest time) about the fit of the Jamex
front strut brace on a 90q. Perusal of the referenced photo at:

http://www.nh.ultranet.com/~human/stressbar-pix.htm

shows that it is the same as I bought from Rick Schwalenberg for my 1988 90q
(10V). It installes the same as in the photo. Drilling through the strut
towers for the mounting bolts requires care as the sheet metal there is
doubled with non-parallel surfaces. Also there is a harness strap pin near
the battery that may need to be cut off. Suggest painting all exposed bare
metal surfaces so the galvanize does not have to sacrifice itself across the
sheet metal.

It is necessary for the cruse control vacuum pump to be moved. I removed
the pump from its bracket and drilled new holes for its rubber mounting feet
and then mounted the bracket closer to the ABS servo (details forgotten).
If interested parties contact me I will look to remind myself exactly what I
did and report further.

Also, I could not reinstall the battery cover with the bar in place.

There was an improvement in feel, but it was subtle. It might be more
noticeable in a track experiment.
