Mike,
I have been running 205/45-16 W10's on my 4KQ for about 4000
miles now. No complaints, and am actually pretty happy with them
so far, especially since they were only $94/tire. I was a little worried
about the harshness of a 45 series tire when combined with the 325
lb/in Eibach coilover springs (front), but it's quite tolerable. A 50
series would go a long ways for protecting the rim though. Straight
away noise levels are pretty low, but gain when cornering. A bit
grabby when traveling in freeway grooves, but not bad, I think most
45/50 series tires have this tendency. Rain performance is above
average, snow is pathetic. Tire wear is excellent so far, even and
barely noticeable. Hard cornering (street) is above average. The
track will probably push them pretty hard though since they are not
VR rated (my only disappointment). Tread compound is a nice
compromise at 200.
I waited _3_ months trying to find a Michelin in this size (SX-GT,
MXX3's too soft and too much $$$), as Michelin's are what I usually
buy. I was ready to pay $163/tire. . But Michelin's attitude (as
confirmed by The Tire Rack, Discount, and a couple of others) was
that "when we decide we want to make some, we will let you sell
them". It would have been even more of a bummer if I had found
four tires, damaged one, then tried to find a replacement.
I will thread a track report for this tire if/when I get the opportunity.

Craig Lebakken
