Not true. I just got this done on a set of Borbet wheels for $160 (for
all of them). New wheels would be about $700. Having a body shop roll
the fenders professionally would be about the same, with no guarantees
of paint cracking, etc. One thing to watch out for is the
hub-centricity. Some wheels don't have a constant-radius hub hole, but
it may taper out, so you can only remove a little material (~5mm) before
you loose your hub centricity. You may also need shorter log bolts.
Don't want to lock your wheel against the hub carrier, you know... And
don't forget about the spare. If you end up using different sized lug
bolts, have an extra set for the spare in case you get a flat.
