Camaraderie '99

I just spent the last couple of hours swapping quattto-thought and generally getting
to know Marty Liggins, who was passing through while on his way back to Bucksnort.
Marty had not yet seen an ur-Q in the flesh, and wanted to check out mine. Although
I couldn't offer him a ride (I had just gotten the car running well again 10 minutes
before his arrival, but the car is not legal and I live very, very close to the local
police station), but he sat in it and poked his heard around it for a while, and I
do believe he's going to catch the bug.

I was impressed with his '87 5ktq, in great shape for 240k miles. I like the black
metallic paint, even though he says it's not original. While we were out front of
the house, a dark/dark blue 87 5kt drove by, a local neighbor who has not returned
my waves. We briefly lamented on the dearth of camaraderie amongst Audi owners outside
the Q-List and its members. I was reminded of my meeting with Bob Myers, Osman Parvez,
Ed Kellock, Brendan Rudack, and Jim Griffin last year, as well as with the Hoosier Quattro
Junta, who seem to have dissolved subsequent to my failure to attend our last
meeting.

Hopefully, before I run out of money, I'll get the 5ktq roadworthy, so I can get out
and meet a more listers, without having to get them to rearrange their trips to go
through Louisville.

It's good to be back on the list, but I've got to improve my filter to dump all the
V8/A4/S4/S6 or anything about Audis builts after 1992. It's great stuff to read, but
in three months of remaining subscribed but not having time to read the mail, I had
accumlated 10,000 unread qlist messages! And I just don't really like the digest
mode.

Well, enough, enough... but thanks to all of you for being here! -doug q
