RE: Max Boost/HP? 87 5kcstq
The maximum amount of boost the stock fuel distributor will handle
is 15psi. A secondary injector controller will let you go higher. With
the 7.8:1 compression i'd see no problem hitting 20psi with good gas and
a larger intercooler. As for a blow off valve, they save your turbo
and reduce/eliminate lag between shifts. I am getting a recirculating
compressor bypass valve. It opens when the manifold sees a couple
pounds of vacuum. Blow off valves are better than nothing but require
the pressure before the closed throttle plate to be high. This slows
the turbo down (lag). It can also trick the computer & fi to dump
excess fuel in. To recirculate it, tee the oil breether hose that goes
in the intake boot and put the other hose to the blow off / bypass
valve.
