In the last sentence I should have said: 

"If you DO notice all the usual effects of missing cylinder that show up
only after you disconnected the wire, than the cylinder was working. Put the
wire back and pull the one from the next plug".

In principle it doesn't matter. I made it with the plug side. This is 
just the matter of convenience.
