waxing prophetically
Opinions on waxes/polishes/etc are as varied as the people recommending
them. I would very much doubt if, say Zymol was several times better
than, say Meguire's. That said...
...Buy your products, and include in your purchase car pre-wax clay.
All it is is the most overpriced rectangle of clay anywhere. Using it
before you start (after you wash the car of course) makes a big
difference.
Also, I don't trust detailers. I see too many ruined NEW cars. The
most common is the orbital used on cars that don't need it (which is any
new car not excessively oxidized) and mucho swirl marks. Usually only
old paint needs the orbital magic.
But for older cars, I would go ahead, bite that bullet, and buy that
orbital. I am happy with mine. I've polished/waxed my '87 5kcstq with
marginal paint and brought it "up a letter grade" in appearance. (I
used Meguire products just because they're everywhere and cheap.)
