RE: Optima battery in an S6?
I'm not familiar with your car, but I assume that it has the battery under
the rear seat.
I did successfully install an Optima battery under the rear seat of my ur-q
... what I did was to measure the existing battery in the car and compare
that to the measurements of the Optima (I don't know if things have changed
recently, but when I did this there were only 2 flavors of the battery). I
found that in height they were almost identical and the other dimensions
were fairly compatible and so I decided to buy the battery. When I put it
in I found that the locations of the (+) and (-) terminals were swapped ...
which almost made it a no go, but fortunately the positive lead took a
circuitous route under the back seat and by repositioning the ground cables
connection to the body of the car I could make it fit. If you are worried
about shorts (you could check the underside of the rear seat to see if there
is any metal wires either exposed or under a small bit of foam in the
vicinity of the positive terminal) it shouldn't be too difficult to fashion
a cover to shield it.

Subject: Optima battery in an S6?
I searched the archives and didn't find anything that was confidence
inspiring. Has anyone dropped an Optima battery into an S6? I've
got a
95.5 Avant. I saw one reference to putting one in on it's side, and
another
warning about the terminals shorting out (due to seat springs) on
non-standard size batteries.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
