rear fog light question

i have a '84 5kT and there is no running lights under the backup lights on 
the trunklid like on the '86 up 5k's. 
i popped off the cover under the trunklid to acess the area of the 
backup/running light on my '84, and found that there is indeed a wire there 
for the running lights, but i checked it with a continuity tester, and there 
is no power going to the wire. 
 where would this wire be connected?  any other '85k down owners ever added 
rear fog or running lights in the space allowed for them under their backup 
light?

i took the rear running light socket/bulb (the one under the backup light) 
off of my '86 5kT and popped out the blanking cover for the socket hole on my 
'84 5kT, and plugged the '86 5kT running lights into my '84 5kT, and 
....nothing.  no power going to the wire for the trunklid running lights on 
the '84's.....
i was hoping to install a hi wattage rear fog in the left lens under the 
backup light,(anyone done this, and where did u get the socket for the rear 
fogs?) and a regular running light in the right lens under the backup light..
but i cant do anything because there is no power to the wires....

can anyone help??
