S4 buying gotchas

This is turning into a 200 vs. S4 discussion. Scott Mockry once posted
"If we assume a curb weight (no driver) of 3850 lbs for the S4 with 227HP
and 3650 lbs for the 1991 200TQ with 217HP, the 1991 200TQ 20V is at
16.82 lbs/HP, the S4 is at 16.96 lbs/HP," Guess which is faster? Also
the 200 can be more easily modded. Have a look at the difference
between the path that the intake air takes in a 200 versus an S4/S6 and
you'll see one reason why.

Those blue-book values are inflated. I see many S4/S6's going for
between $15-20,000. (sigh, mine is no longer worth big bucks...)

one difference not mentioned yet: the "Audi Advantage" program with free
scheduled maintenance means that later cars have all generally been
well maintained, especially compared to the late 89/90 200's which are
more variable depending on owner knowledge/care.
