RE: Leaking Auxiliary Water Pump - 89 200tq
My auxiliary water pump is leaking coolant. The impeller housing is good,
the impeller is intact, and it _does_ spin under power. Haven't finished
checking it but appears that the leak is either in the seam between halves
of the impeller housing _or_ at the seal where the motor shaft enters the
impeller housing. I could not see a way to separate the housing halves to
reseal the unit. Will try to determine where the leak is tonight. I'm
tempted to think one could apply 'massive' amount of sealant, but I question
whether sealant would hold the pressure. Have any listers had success
repairing an otherwise sound pump with this problem?
Any help appreciated. BTW, thanks to Phil Rose and Michael Murphy for their
help on climate control codes!
