Alt whine again? maybe not

Subject: Alt whine again???

    When I shift now....like in 1st and second, and let out the clutch, I
get this screeching noise at the front end of my car.  Last time I heard this
noise (although it was much worse) my alternator died about a week later.
It doesn't seem to do it when the car is warm, but it sounds like the same
noise.

Listen *Carefully* , you should be able to tell if it's coming from the alt
or from the engine itself. If it's coming from the tb cover area, beware!
your TB idler pulley may be going bad. In my case, I was getting an
e-e-e-a-a-ah sound occasionally , appearing and disappearing again, for the
first 10-15 minutes on a cold engine, usually right after starting to move
in 1st or 2nd.
