Re: 5ktq rear brake problems

Hi Larry;

    The proportioning valve is located in the main brake line at the rear of
the car. It is connected by a spring to the rear suspension. The function is
to adjust line pressure to the rear brakes in proportion to the load in the
car. It will not affect the operation of your front brakes.
    If your front brakes are not working, check for seized caliper guide
pins, seized pistons, air in the hydraulics, or a bad master cylinder. Since
most of the braking effort comes from the front brakes, you should notice a
reduction in braking performance if the front brakes are not working
correctly.
