Re: Re: Interference Engines

Off-set crank keys for timing gears are an off-the-shelf item for the V-8
guys.
BTDT for small block chev.

To adjust his cam timing to make up for having his head shaved, the guy
notched
the key to either his crank or cam pulley (I heard about this second-hand).
So, apparently the key is offset, and thinner than stock. I don't know what
he
did to take up the slack. This is on a mid-eighties Acura Integra with a
racy
1.8l 16 valve.

This is the same guy that put a Chrysler 460 or something in his little
Mitsubishi pickup that had no roof (makeshift convertible, from the previous
owner). This is in California. I asked him what he was going to do about
smog, and he said he didn't figure that one out yet. Crazy.

Anyway, the crank pulley key statement made me think of him. I'm sure there
are other stories I can't think of right now.
