On my 5k, this fitting is looking very chewed up. Last time, the
flare wrench was useless, but an open-ended wrench worked!
A good adjustable that you can get even more snug sounds good to me.

I do the same to repressurize the system whenever I have it open.
It works wonders - replaced both fuel pump and filter on the 5k and
it started immediately after using this trick.
