Cold start problem - final chapter
86 4KCSQ These are the things done so far:
repaired leaking fuel line
replaced coolant temp sensor
new plugs (bosch plat +4)
new cap/rotor.
Improvement but still rough start. No more multiple starts but all starts
still rough.
Yesterday:
Swapped injector # 2 with one from my crashed 4ks. After checking plugs, # 2
was a little fouled & had a faint gas smell.
once again - improvement, but still straining to get started smoothly.
Today:
Noticed high idle after driving a while. Cleaned ISV and re-installed. No
function from ISV. Pulled plug, no change. Checked with engine off and key in
on position. Usual hum not present. Swapped with ISV from crashed 4ks. Still
no function from ISV. After tracing wires, found ISV operates when harness
moved in certain manner. Turns out a cracked wire on the TEST CONNECTOR
causing intermittent ISV function. Repaired crack & idle/ start- up seems
much better. Hope this is the final chapter of this story other than maybe
some fine tuning. Thanks to all who contributed.
