ohmigod... is this something that GM always does on their cars?  On the
Cavalier that I rented a while back, I almost fell out of my seat when I
saw "CHECK GAGES".  Can anyone confirm this?  No GM cars in the stable.

Yup BTDT. I was on business a week ago, and the rental car company upgraded
me to a Cadillac Eldorado (32V Northstar engine). The dash had a "night"
mode that dimmed everything 'cept the speedo. Neat feature, for a while...
I thought Caddys had a HUD, nope.

What a land yacht though, talk about a living room on wheels, and that flat
bench front seat is good for nothing other than maybe high school prom
night. ;)
