RE: S4
michael,
are you aware of what the bmep actually means? my undersquare rs2 i5 turbo
produces 144bhp/litre using 1.0bar of pressure. what does that say about
the bmep???
similarily the i4t for the ttq, of the v8 for the s8. i think you're
getting some things mixed up here :-)
another point, your assertion that long stroke motors are not high
performance is interesting compared to say, the fact the the porsche
oversquare (100mm/85.9 b/s) 928gts v8 (5l 345bhp, developed peak power
@5,700rpm, while the long stroke audi 4.2l v8 (81mm/86.4 b/s) develops peak
power @6,2000rpm and peaks @7,200rpm. so it develops more power/litre, and
revs higher at the same time as being fairly undersquare. figure that one
out...
as i said, modern technology, design, manufacturing and quality move the art
of engine design on...

Now that my 3rd post in this regard has been duly twisted and
misunderstood, lemme restate it again.
My POINT was that no true, proven, high performance engine uses the small
bore, long stroke method of engine making. It puts alot of stress on the
rods and crank, and results in many more problems. Audi has a HORRIBLE
efficiency (BMEP i believe) with their engines, and that is why most
people have to run 3.0 bar of boost to get major power.
That is my problem...not all that thorough, but basically that
later...
