Couple of conundrums
a) UK specification "WR" ur-quattro, 1984.
However - the front transom has been chopped and welded back in
place. Perhaps by a garage that didn't know the engine is supposed
to go down and not up when you're taking it out? The engine is
_WEIRD_ - its number is "15500". Just like that - correct Audi
stamping style and alignment. Anyone ever seen one of these?
It also has _TWO_ senders on the side of the block - one where the
oil pressure switch is usually located (but there's no wire on it)
and one about two inches higher. Does anyone recognise this block?
b) It's running 26psi of boost using a modified MAC01B ECU - the ECU
has a daughterboard added behind the pressure sensor (a nice piece
of work) and a capacitor on the back of the 'main' daughterboard
(crudely soldered).
Oddest thing - I assumed that the ECU had been modified to override the
fuel pump cutout. Wrong - we tried a bog standard ECU and that also
didn't cut the fuel pump, despite seeing 26psi at the sensor. We
MityVaced all the lines, checked continuity, etc.
My first thought was that the fuel pump had been jumpered - but it
doesn't run when the ignition switch is turned on. It seems to start
running at the normal point of the start sequence.
